Vacation times - React / Sthlm Open API / Quote App

Ok people some time has passed since I wrote anything and thats fine I guess, everybody needs their free time and time to recouperate in the ways that suits them. I am thinking of trying the Digital Nomad life and also incorporating more teaching to others be it by tech talks, spiritual enlightenment talks ( the constant ongoing journey.. ;)), or just regular teaching to youngsters in some form aswell as being able to play more music that would also tick my boxes so to speak.

When it comes to the developy part of life I have recently started looking into React ( after reading a bit about it and really digging how they do things as opposed to Angular (have not fully tested their part 2 but its also taking a similar approach in certain ways as to how React is handling things and that seems fun and the correct approach to take when it comes to building web-apps nowadays.

So I did a small demo application in React where I talk to an open stockholm API for commuter traffic ( metro, train, buses etc). The demo application (not done yet).. can be found here @

Also being a romantic.. and the world always needs more love ;).. I started to put together a quote app, basically giving the user a random love quote when entering the page and clicking a button to give them the quotes. This was more as a fun thing since most of the quote pages out there tends to just collect the data on different pages and its not as easily accessible or giving the amount of surprise that can happen when its being served randomly.

Free Video Player - ALPHA RELEASE ! :)

That's right, after some grinding in fixing cross-browser bugs and other hassle with both listening to correct events from the keyboard, adjusting css and other functionality issues. I have now released the first ALPHA version of Free Video Player. It am glad I have finally been able to reach this level of consistency and reaching the first point of release for the player, even though it most likely will need more attention in fixes in the features that have been pushed in this ALPHA release, but now its out in the public so others might be able to test the player and provide feedback!

Lets see where this goes. Anyways it feels good that I managed to get to this point.  I deserve a break which I am taking now ;). Peace out!

Acapulco First Episode

Hi pps! Hope you are having a nice february! Me and a friend /former colleague decided to go for a conference trip to Acapulco to both meet new interesting business contacts, get inspiration, attend workshops and more. But also to work a bit more with Free Video Player and its different components. Working on getting to the Alpha release stage. So Basically we are going for supporting VOD's with subtitle support, muxxed and separated track support for DASHED resources, as well as support for standard formats such as mp4 and webm. Moreover Free Video Player should also support multiple bitrates, and hopefully (maybe.. ;)) we will fix support for multiple audio streams aswell (that might be included further down the line but.. ;)).

Anyways a bit about the start of our trip, we started with a 19 (ish) hour flight with Lufthansa, where they both had power supply for the computers (kudos to Lufthansa) making us able to work over the atlantic, which we did!

For us the first official hotspot setup between our development environments sending packages back and forth in mid-air (about 8000 m up over the atlantic and the over the alaskan/canadian thundra ;)). Was a pretty cool experience having like your own wifi and dev environment there ;).

Anyways attaching some images from our first day here, more to come :)

Peace

Free Video Player - Site online :)

Hi people hope you are all doing well and if you aren't already,  that you follow your hearts wherever they may take you ;). That is what I am doing now. I guess I have also changed a bit on how I look at career and things. So will see how my upcoming working situation looks like ;). Currently looking for like something like part/half time development in a project/work and part time teaching in things like Maths or music since that is something I discovered I loved also when I was doing part time teaching in the end of my study years at KTH. Yea maybe I will add even more philosophical ideas and views I have on life here aswell as providing some stuff about the developy part of my life ;).

Anyways for some developy parts.. I released the web-site for the open source project I discussed earlier.. drum roll... Free Video Player ! :) The codebase can be reached through the homepage I just linked to or by going directly over to GitHub :). So far I am working towards an ALPHA release so there is just the possibility to fork the project at GitHub but soon I will have a zipped alpha release containing the js files necessary to include the Free Video Player within your site.

Now for another important thing.. pictures from the last part of my vaccation ;) I was in the northern/middle part of Sweden visiting beautiful Åre and did some skiing with a friend. One night we had confy -30 celsius kinda, but boy is it beautiful during the day when the sun is shining and the dry air (all water moisture freezes over kinda fast).

Small vacation - Free Video Player

Ok people taking a bit of a vacation and changing climate and setting. Barcelona for a couple of days, then a couple of days somewhere else in spain, to round up with some skiing ;). Also wanted to give a small heads up that the open source video project is heading in nice direction I think. The work name given to it is Free Video Player, since the idea is that besides being open source the software should be licensed through the GPLv3 license (making the code transparent for all humans/people wanting to use the software), and thus "free" in the correct use of the word as I see it, free is different from gratis that is.

Anyways some pictures from the start of my trip.. ;)

Holidays, New challenges - And an Open Source HTML5 Video player

Ok people hope all is well and the holidays are treating you all wonderfully well!? :) Some updates, I am changing projects workwise now on the beginning of next years. Nothing is written in stone yet but I have my ideas and leads, its more about me listening to myself for a while before jumping in to the next challenge/experience ! :).  A cool thing though is that I decided to give back more to the community in form of Open Source stuff, and the first (quite big) project comes in an open source technology for playing video streams. There is something called HTML5 and I have basically started to build my own video player from scratch which in turn will be licensed through GPLv3 http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.en.html. I will post more stuff on this blog as soon as we have something closer to a first alpha/beta, then it will be published on github for the public etc (its currently me doing all the video player work, but a former colleague and a friend is doing work on other parts of the project aswell). Anyways here is a nice picture of stockholm you might enjoy :)

Working late.. and working on a new company page

Ok people trying to get some updates here again. Have been some focus on work lately since we are pushing for a deadline with a specific technology that basically hasn't really been done on so many places in the world so far we know. But basically we are working with a system handling video streaming services currently. Had some issues with a bug in one part of the system chain having half of the team working late one monday evening yay! :) Supplying some images from that evening. Also working a bit on a new company page since I did start another company this summer, so it could be nice to have a front for the company up.. (haven't really had time until now.. but now I started the process... will probably contain a bit more fun stuff like overlayed mp4s and other visual goodies. Still basing the things in an Angular base ;)

a bit tired.. ;)
My colleague Rene working on solving an issue..
